Management not organized, actual work is good

Actual work is very easy. Lots of overtime. Most co workers from every department are nice.No opportunities for advancements. Management will try to blame and berate you for issues when they are wrong. Management is not organized, treat good employees bad and reward bad employees. If you get work at ABG, just keep working till you find better employment cause it's only a place to pass through. A lot of good hard working employees have left Avis budget Toronto, because of bad management. Never bend over backwards for managers.They will abuse that privilege, and make sure you always document and record every interaction incase they come after you.

Disorganized, no opportunity for advancement or raise.

Managers do not have proper management training other than other Budget managers who do not have proper management training. Opportunities for advancement do not really exist for Service Reps and Counter Reps. Company only cares about making money, not about the customers needs or it's lower level employees...other than they make the company money. BC Budget's ethics towards customer service are lacking. Lower level staff were the saving grace for my experience here. You cannot trust any of the upper management for the Okanagan. Wages are low, they try to win you over by offering salary however it does not change from the original low starting wage. Incentives only make a difference if you work at an airport location. Low pay, no vacation's allowed in summer and low staff morale at the location. Not a positive place to have returned to, I am happy to have left quickly.

Great place to work, treat employees very well.

Very good place to work, fellow workers get along very well. Management provides a free lunch on holidays for all staff, and you even get a cake on your birthday. How many employers do that!

The employees are excellent people to work with

The employees are great. When given respect, autonomy to perform their assigned tasks and empathy as human beings, along with the coaching needed which is the role of a good leader; they excel. Even though this is a union environment, my success throughout the almost 6 years as a Manager was entirely due to the unwavering support I received from the employees. During peak periods I had 150 + employees scheduled. I have consistently worked towards "leadership that lifts and empowers others" and it has rewarded me with the success I have experienced.However, since the past 2 years or so management culture has changed for the worse and is now based on - lead by intimidation, lies and constant observation of employees. If you are not part of the inner management circle you are ostracized and eventually pushed out when opportunity presents itself.The irony is, all have to go thru a yearly mandatory Code of Conduct review. I am assuming top managers are exempt from this yearly exercise or their position makes them untouchable.

Corrupt beyond reproach. Up-selling over people.

At the location i worked at there was a man who would come in fairly regullarly i dont know his title, but he would bring in selling technique manuals all the time. We were told that if we did not hit up selling targets we would be discliplined and they had 100 creative ways to tell us to decieve customers above all else to put them in the most expensive car possible.

High turnover and no appreciation for staff

Very high turnover! They were always struggling to fill positions, leaving the remaining staff overworked. You're not allowed to take any time off during the summer months. Health and dental benefits were VERY basic. No room for growth and you are lucky if you receive a wage increase of more than a few cents above minimum wage after over a year of service.

It seems like staff did not know what was going on at all levels

It varies from day to day, be careful in what you say to other people, management , I did not know if they are coming or going . but they were okay to work with if it was organize. A lot of different cultures in peoples background very interesting. Hardest part of the job was communications sometimes the workers did not know what was going on. Going home was enjoyable.

Company policy and procedures change frequently based on the managements mood.

The self storage division was not supported very well by upper management as it was not having fluctuations daily in rental rates or occupancy. Avis Budget is focused on the vehicle rental side of the business which is the area of familiarity for management. During peak vehicle rental times it is very fast moving and competitive. Most of the front line and support staff are under paid and there is a a poor ratio of managers to staff which puts a huge workload on the managers.

Part time job only

Can't be specific, legally binding obligation. Okay for retired person who wants to do something with their boredom at home. Few hours available and no benefits. Poor management at times, double standards.

Overall good experience

Overall good experience, no much room for improvement, the management don't have enough knowledge about the tasks, always asking employee to find out with out any credit to the employee.

Hectic

This position was a stop gap type of employment for me. The hardest part of the job was working alone during extremely rushed situations with little or no help. I found the management to be unhelpful and ill equipped to better their own business.

Stressful working environment with no supports and poor management

A typical day at work is answering calls from customers around British Columbia, generally dealing with reservations and complaints. There is poor management, with little to no education in business management. Advancement is earned through friendships, not on merit. High turnover with same bottom 5 positions as they are over worked, underpaid, and undervalued. Expect to work weekends with no time off, ever. Unpaid overtime, no lunch breaks, labour laws are not followed here. If you are someone who is independent and follow a moral compass, this position is not for you.

Management is terrible and abusive. All the staff is depressed

Management treat you like garbage. They expect you to go above and beyond for less them minimum wage when you calculate that you don't get paid for opening the store or closing. They see the 15 min that you have to be there earlier for opening as extra that you should do for free. They will work you down to the bone and not even say thank you. That is unless you have a special relationship with management that allows you go move your car every 2 hours and be gone for 20 min plus. If you don't and if you ask for anything more they will make a the problem.

No balance

No work life balance. Not allowed to take days off in summer at all. High turn over due to poor management and not valuing employees. Very cliquey and lots of office drama but good pay if you work hard and get good numbers.

Such a bad experience

A company that was unfair to their employees and had no issues with it. Was a long time ago so I can't speak for them now. Hopefully there's been improvement!

Terrible but no one cares

As a former supervisor I have to say they company is one of the worse but why should they change. The employees milk the clock by being at there post 15 minutes and taking 2 hour lunches so they could be with there friends. When you mention this to upper management all they want is good labor relations. If your looking for a place that doesn’t care and pay employees to do nothing and have you have no say in it then it’s a perfect fit. While all union companies are like this, never seen one this bad

First look at people working and see that your fit because you have to be working person and at same time you must be from same look like one of them

this place need friends you have to look upon like a spy you can't Trust anyone because everyone is spying on you I was new to the company and some of them are very good and some of them very bad. If you say complaint to them on somebody did not do any wrong simply they lose the job, Because he is honest and reliable most Positive person and Peaceful also. but be careful all the time ALERT
