Company with great values and vision

Avis en vedette

L'avis le plus utile, sélectionné par Indeed
I recently left AIM with a change in my career, but I learned so much in clinical knowledge with great support from the team. Everyone really cares about kids attending the centre. Their standard and expectation is pretty high and you can learn many different skills by joining this company.

Points positifs

Great team

Points négatifs

This field is not for everyone. It could be mentally and physically challenging

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that your experience at AIM was positive. We have very clear values and vision that help us continue to grow. We wish you all the best in your future endeavour and keep in touch!

Collaborative and supportive environment

AIM has proven to be a very supportive and collaborative environment. The values are really visible in how AIM takes care of their team and families. My role at AIM ended due to a change in careers for me; nothing to do with the organization. Reading the previous reviews can skew your view; and can often represent a fixed mindset. Having a growth mindset is valuable for me that can facilitate a positive experience. The expectations on quality are very high and that is because our client's deserve the best quality. Due to this; it can be quite challenging for individuals to receive feedback willingly and implement feedback. It's an open door policy where management is willing to talk and collaborate on the best outcome. This also means that management is on the floor providing support and feedback (positive and wishes) to promote best quality practices; which may not be suited for some people. AIM cares about its employees; knowing that best quality for our clients will come when our team is taken care of. There are professional development days (talks, workshops, hands on activities), professional seminars from our psychologist, team meetings with a clinical discussion, great benefits package, fair wages, bonus pay, supplies provided, coaching and mentoring opportunities. The benefits are amazing with a focus on caring for your mental health. The professional development opportunities are always tailored to the teams needs and requests. The day to day interactions are sensitive to burnout and very supportive and positive. If you are looking for an organization that values in -

"AIM is a family"

Working here was the most unprofessional and condescending experience of my life. If you love having lies told about you by insecure underqualified senior therapists and lead team members, this is the place for you. If you thrive under meticulous micromanagement and oppressive management styles, this is the place for you. If you want to be made to implement therapeutic modalities for learners who have long outgrown the curriculum in order to assist members of the senior team achieve personal certifications, this is absolutely the place for you. If you're looking for a supportive and clinically strong supervisor to receive BCBA supervision hours from, maybe look somewhere else. There are members of the floor staff who are more qualified than some of the senior therapists. If you're still interested in applying, be prepared to be kept at the same underwhelming pre-probation hourly rate for years. You'll be expected to constantly stroke the fragile egos of your supervisors and validate cringey behaviour from upper management on threat of termination. Have a suggestion to even minutely improve the work culture? Don't even think about bringing it up with the management team if you don't want to be heavily scrutinized for being a "troublemaker". If you struggle with mental health concerns, maybe reconsider. The founder will ask to speak to your doctor if you request support, accommodation or any mental health days. This organization is rife with nepotism, ignorance and questionable dual relationships, but if you're desperate for some experience, the floor team is truly amazing. Everything -

Points positifs

amazing floor staff, some supportive lead team members

micromanagement, nepotism, low pay, zero advancement opportunities

Mental health on the edge

This field is stressful to begin with and sure it’s not meant for everyone. But, this place is definitely something else. They claim to have a good intention from the beginning, but once you start rolling you will see the truth. Compensation for home session is terrible, scheduling for staff is always tense. They expect a lot from you but will never repay you in the way they claim to. Everything from the beginning always sounds so good and generous. But if you’re not a yes man/ woman, they will turn the table around at you, and of course what they promised you will never become true. Turnover rates are fairly high within this field, but this place definitely have one of the highest I have ever experienced within years, trust me it is the way it is for a solid reason. Even prior to joining this place, there’s quite a few feedback I’ve heard from others to just stay away from this place. Well it is a good and bad experience to have, like Drake said started from the bottom now we here. This place will definitely serve you some special life time experience, and know what to be aware of for the future.

If your mental health is important maybe reconsider

If you are for experiencing constant burn out and being micro managed this is the place for you. Higher management do not respect their employees and respond passive aggressively when communicating. They do not know what work life balance is and exploit their employees to the full. They don’t ask they demand. An intense amount of pressure was placed on the staff. They have unclear expectations when communicating, and use fear as motivation. Their turnover rate says everything you need to know.

Points positifs

Points négatifs

upper management

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience at AIM wasn't positive. We try our best to keep our open-door policy, encourage our staff to speak to our staff liaison people for any concerns or issues arise at work and support with all staff's professional development in order to keep high standard and practice. Staff's mental health and work life balance is very important at AIM and we also monitor staff satisfaction through our annual survey which is usually pretty satisfactory on staff morale and satisfaction. We agree that we are in a difficult field that requires strong passion for what we do and with your feedback we will work harder to support our staff.

A great place to meet all kinds of genuine people and polish your skills

I have been working at Autism in Mind Children's Charity for more than 5 years. It is a great place to learn the basic skills and then advance your learnings to further your career. I started as a junior therapist with minimal hands-on experience and polished my skills in the first two years working there. I got prompted into a lead therapist position 2 years after. I have worked with many clients and countless co-workers. To tell the truth, this field is quite stressful comparing to many other occupations and there is a lot of employee turnover in this field. Yet, Autism in Mind Children's Charity has its core team doing its best to make the best of every employee working there. Through the 5 years, I have seen the company's growth. Starting in the basement of a church, this company has moved its way out to obtain its own property to use as the treatment center. Starting from the basic hourly wages for the contract employees without benefits, AIM has also improved to give dedicated staff annual salaries plus extensive group benefits. In addition, the center has also improved in its management group by including more team collaboration opportunities and its own HR resources. Finally, the work culture is very genuine. All the staff I have met are kind and generous. Everyone is willing to give a helping hand when others are in need. People also develop friendships at leisure times and it is a great opportunity to expand your social network in this field.

Points positifs

Paid trainings, many opportunities to learn and advance skills, able to change to employee status after working for 1 year

Points négatifs

Frequent schedule change of clients that you may work with (a common thing in this field)

Thank you so much for your feedback and we are so glad to see you growing with AIM. We really appreciate your dedication, hard work, and passion for all our children and families.

Great culture, big community & even bigger opportunities

I have been with AIM for almost 5 years now. In my experience there is room to grow and lots of opportunities for learning new things, whether it be new types of assessments/programming, attending workshops or ABA conferences, etc. AIM consistently looks for new ways to grow and develop within our field and management considers what their staff want to learn/practice more of. Through AIM I completed my RBT (I graduated and came to AIM with a diploma in Behavioural Science) and was promoted a level up within two years of my employment. My coworkers are very passionate about their job and I feel a great sense of community and culture within our agency. If you are dedicated to your work, are able to work in a fast paced environment and you enjoy this field you will have great potential at AIM!

Points positifs

Lots of autonomy within job role, Management do their best to recognize staff

Points négatifs

Must be able to keep up with changes (i.e. schedule)

We love to see our members grow professionally and be able to move up to their next career phase within AIM. We love to invest in our staff so that we are able to retain wonderful staff like yourself!

Time to face the real world.

Welcome to the real world, this is a place where you’d be growing and learning a lot. If you are new to the field, welcome to the brutal world, here you’d learn a lot about humanity. There are certainly nice, genuinely souls within the pool. If you are a fresh graduate, you can use this place as an opportunity to learn about different assessments they used within the field. In terms of work life balance and all that, it will certainly prepare you for your future jobs. If you can survive it here, everywhere else would be all good. So good luck !

Points positifs

Meet some genuine people.

Points négatifs

Long hours, do everything yourself, low pay, changes on policies all the time

Thank you so your feedback and we are happy to hear that it was a growing experience for you at AIM. We do have a very structured staff training for all our new members and hope that was helpful in your future career endeavor. However, we are sorry to hear that you felt overwhelmed by the workload. We try not to put too much pressure on our junior members however, we hear often that we have a very high-quality standard in terms of children's treatment. We will conduct a staff survey to monitor their current job satisfaction and see what else we can do to support the team.

Thank you AIM!

I just got hired in March of this year right before COVID-19 lock down. Even though AIM was forced to close just like any other businesses until July, they kept all their employees and provided guaranteed hours of work so that we can be all connected and supported during this difficult time. I wouldn't be able to pay my rent if it wasn't AIM because I've been always working as an independent contractor in my previous jobs with much less hourly rate. I want to say that the management really cares about their employees. AIM also has a great clinical team that supports everyone's professional development.
