Atira management is terrible. There is miscommunication between HR, manager and program coordinator. They make employees overwork, with no support. Their website says they pay benefits but they do not. There is no work safety. Employees get poked with needles, and face other issues concerning health but they do not pay benefits. They are always short staffed.
I moved up quite quickly in APMI, from front desk casual, to full time support worker, to management in less than 18 months. If you have a good work ethic, and can handle volatile, and dangerous situations, drug use and harm reduction, this is a good fit for anyone with lived experience.

Pay is well under industry standard. Payroll frequently makes errors. One time a client threatened me with a baseball bat. I was disciplined, told that I had hostility towards women, requiered to attend counselling, and barred from working at that facility. On my first year's vacation, a combination of miscommunication and me not understanding their rules meant that I would be without a pay cheque for two weeks. When I asked them politely to correct this, I was told that company policy couldn't be waived because 'then we'd have to do it for everyone'. Instead, I was offered a loan and charged interest and a processing fee. I had bills to pay and people who depended upon my pay cheque, so I took the loan.
