Workplace gossip, Bullying Management
My experiences at the Athabasca Health Facility proved to be difficult to reconcile. I am accustomed to the typical workplace gossip and backstabbing, but this is a whole new level. Most of my co-workers were pleasant and friendly, however, much of the senior management is imported and there for the money. The CEO circles the facility like a shark waiting to strike, his imported subordinates do not have the experience, training, or qualifications for their new positions, (nepotism)
The shifts are 12 hours a day for 8-10 straight days/nights. A clear violation of the Labour Standards Act of Saskatchewan, yet they circumvent this by forcing their "employees" to become contractors. In one of their facilities, the nurse is on duty for 4 straight weeks!!
The communities are very very friendly and most patients are respectful, but as with any remote location, don't walk alone. There is a lot of dangerous wildlife lurking.
