Good perks but lots of micromanaging
Financial Accountant (Ancien employé) –  Mississauga, ON1 juillet 2019
The company is going through a huge change and cleaning house; huge turn around of employees. They even fire people who come back from leave or have been with the company for decades.
Very little room for advancement. The only way you get a better position is if you got hired into it or a boss leaves.
There are some nice people that work there, but there are also people who will degrade you and make your time there miserable.
The benefits are good and they have company events, but the overall culture of the company is lacking because they don't know who they are due to the many company/owner changes.
Points positifs
free wine
Points négatifs
rude coworkers, micromanaging bosses

Bad Disorganized Management and Condesending "Retiring" Embarassment.
Desktop Support Technician (Ancien employé) –  Oliver, BC10 juin 2019
When you plan to hire somebody to train them when you fully acknowledge they do not have all the required skill sets for the position, make sure you have a plan in place for on-boarding and ensure that the trainer is in fact training the employee properly and respectfully. The retiring employee was outright disrespectful to me and refused to train me, while lying to management that I was not willing to learn. You were given plenty of messages that the individual was doing this but decided to "take their word for it" belittle me for not complying with being treated poorly. Look at what it cost you. A potential future claim against Arterra in the works because you decided to try and sweep something under the rug. To the "retiring" worker I have only this to say: I am extremely appalled by your horrible and disrespectful behavior. You are 65 years old, a grown mature adult and trying to sabotage / destroy someone's potential future to save your spot a few more months at best. You are a completely disrespectful, rude and outright pathetic human being with how you treat others and you do NOT nor NEVER deserve your pension with how you acted. You are a complete disgrace to the community and the industry and you will only be remembered for destroying someone's future dreams for selfish desires. Also a pretty poor decision to be disrespectful and potentially discriminator to an employee, given your West Coast facilities are mostly in small towns or out of reach to resources. A lot of candidates in today's world do not drive or have good credit or spot on skill sets to the degree you  plus... are seeking. You cannot afford to be extremely picky with the hiring process if you cannot be flexible. You got hardly anyone in your remote locations that can work so far from living. Also a very bad move for a location in a very small town. Word spreads like wildfire in small places. Once one person knows you are discriminating and disrespectful, everyone will know in that small town who you are. You just killed whatever new employees walking through that door and will only see Arterra as a place who discriminates against their employees. Not a smart move to make Arterra. For a company boasting that they deal with harassment fairly and treat employees like equals regardless of gender, race, preference, religion, disability etc. you sure missed the mark pretty far.

Oh FYI, that new job posting is NOT in Summerland, it's in Oliver. They changed it on my first day and lied to me. They are lying right now again.

Awesome place to work
Accounts Payable Representative (Ancien employé) –  Niagara Falls, ON5 juin 2019
Very easy-going work culture, very balanced in allowing you to attend personal/family matters and trust you to get your work done. Everyone uses laptops, which makes it easy to work from home if you have to.

Also: personal wine allowance, wine tasting days, free bottle of wine on stat holidays.
Points positifs
Easy-going, free wine
Points négatifs
You still have to work

An amazing company and workplace.
Wine Merchant (Employé actuel) –  Toronto, ON6 avril 2019
A typical day includes greeting customers and recommending them a wine they would enjoy. Also, customer sampling and discussing the different flavours.

Management Culture
Store Manager (Ancien employé) –  Ottawa, ON2 mars 2019
Disorganized, slow to respond, fearful of change, minimal accountability, more concerned about the appearance of work being accomplished rather than actively engaging management to achieve results. Treat employees as expendable.

Potentially a good place to grow
Harvest / Trailer Intern (Ancien employé) –  Niagara Falls, ON14 janvier 2019
As a large scale winery, things are done differently then a small scale winery, things are much more cut and dry and not much creative flow happens and everything must be consistent and conform, if you can get a permanent contract your set but until that point struggling with contracts can be difficult

Not a fun place to work, very disorganized
Merchant (Ancien employé) –  Stratford, ON1 août 2018
I worked at the Wine Rack for a short time. Initially, I loved it but as time went by, I knew I could never stay there long term. Manager was very disorganized, not training properly. High pressure to sell and push product on people. Manager bullies and gossips constantly at work. When reported several times, the Wine Rack did nothing about this person. Look elsewhere....

Hard Work, great food
Culinary Team Member (Ancien employé) –  Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON30 décembre 2017
A great kitchen to work in if you want to experience a variety of foods. Hard work required, but they are willing to take on students and employees can move up if they put in hard work. Long hours, but this is typical of the culinary industry.
Points positifs
Staff meal usually included for kitchen, great boss, great experience
Points négatifs
Long hours
