American Eagle has probably been one of my favorite jobs to date, super great environment and managers, also the brand is just great. My coworkers were all amazing.
If you enjoy working in retail and having conversations with strangers, then this is the perfect job. Its an easy job if you are personable, and can improve your interpersonal skills if you are on the quiet side. You get great monthly discounts and the staff is nice. However, the hours are not consistent, especially for new workers. But other than that it's good

A typical day of work was very busy and fast paced. I found I did not receive much training before starting to work. I felt like it was an fine first job, but the management didn't treat their employees great.
my manager might have been a one off so i wont talk much about her but i adored working for american eagle and would again in a heart beat, the environment was warm, kind, friendly, and very collaborative. felt like working with family.
Like I said in the title, only apply here if you're out of options. The favoritism within the store means that you will not get any shifts and management is very immature. Expect minimum wage, and zero room for advancement within the company. The discount is good though!
I only worked there for my work experience course in school. They had me doing promotions: welcoming everyone who comes in and tell them every promotions that we have. It was physically and emotionally draining. Working in the fitting room was a little better, until customers start asking for sizes. You'll have to look first on the shelves and if you can't find them, you'll have to look in the computer and in the back. It's also difficult when you're closing because you have to leave the same time as everyone else even when your shift is done. That means you have to stay behind and clean as much as possible: folding clothes and arranging them.
very fast-paced because they have to meet a goal
AEO was once a fantastic company to work for. The camaraderie- unmatched, communication between employees was so present and sales were high! I partly blame it on cell phones and the reduced ability to actually communicate. Additionally, physical retailers that haven’t implemented some sort of experiential moment to their service models seem to be finding themselves grasping at straws trying to achieve consistent targets that comp.
Unfortunately I did not have very positive experiences while working for this company. The management do not help with training at all, and get disappointed when you don't work to standards. The other workers were awful and did not treat anybody who didn't work there as long as them with any respect. I will credit the companies inclusion to hire those with disabilities.
AEO is a decent retail part time job but they often cut hours so you often cannot just rely on this one job in terms of hours. Employee discount used to be pretty great but the company changed it so its no different from any other retail store. If you are a student, they are usually pretty good about adjusting your availability
