No Benefits, No Raises for PSWs, Unfair Treatment by Management, Racism
Personal Support Worker (Ancien employé) – Milton, ON – 3 décembre 2018
I worked here for 5 years as a PSW. The reason I left was because Acclaim froze PSW wages for the past 2 years. We were not even given the cost of living increase because management said it was not in the budget. But if you look at the sunshine list- upper management and the CEO got yearly raises of 4%. Also there are no benefits package available to PSWs, meaning if you need to go see the dentist or get eye glasses you have to pay for it all out of pocket.
Inconsistent Hours: When they hire you they will promise to give you regular hours, one week you will have 30 hours, but the next week only 12. It is very hard to pay your bills with this company because the hours fluctuate so much. But they require you to be available to work for a good chunk of the day so this prevents you from seeking out another job. Sometimes they will add or take away clients to your schedule at the last minute which creates chaos.
I think the worst part about working for this company was the bad morale. You can start off being a positive person, but over time this company will break you. The morale is so poor here, most people hate their jobs, management won't even say hello to you if you are a psw because you are considered beneath them. There is also a lot of racism, bullying and harassment present in this company.
Working with the clients was nice, they really appreciated the job we did. I miss the clients I would see each day. But for me the poor morale and unfair treatment by management was why I left.
Clients really appreciated the work we did for them.
No raises, no benefits, unfair treatment by management, bullying, harassment and racism
