I enjoyed my time at a&w while it lasted. you learn how to work with others in a team environment. Management was great , unfortunately dealing with difficult customers can be a drag, however you need to learn how to deal with them. Overall I enjoyed my time at a&w quite a lot.
It's good because you are dealing with lots of customers everyday giving the right service they need. you will learn how to do multi-tasking everyday and be a patient person you can be.
Commercial broadway Vancouver store isn’t any fun to work at, short shifts, no listening to your problems. Highest politics in store i have seen at any job. Avoid! This is about that specific store i worked at because my friend was working at some other store and she said its great.
50% food discount
No guaranteed hours, no good money.
Management cares about the staff and will listen to their concerns. Job itself is easy, customers can be difficult depending on the department but as long as the associate has good work ethic the job is quite simple.
Discounts on food
I worked at the A&W in UBC for about a month. The management was kinda disorganized. They send me my schedule over e-mail and sometimes I didn't get it on time. Once on a Thanksgiving weekend, they called me in the morning and told me I had to show up for a shift that evening. The pay was minimum wage.
Its not at all boring job. i meet lots of different customers in a day which enhance my customer handling skill. even this help me to improve my communication skills as well.
its a good way to learn team work
My first day was very exciting. I learned many new things such as using point of sale, dealing with customers and its always busy so we get to interact with variety of people which makes my job more exciting.

My hours were often unclear. I would ask for a set amount of hours a week and was promised them but i would then be scheduled to work many more hours. I decided to resign because I would be starting school and they needed me for many more hours than i was willing to give because of my busier schedule. My supervisors began to question me about what was wrong and tried to convince me to stay but my actual manager never spoke to me about resigning my position.
I improved my communication skills considerably while working here and learned to deal with guests effectively. This job has given me an opportunity to take on a leadership role which is always an asset for future endeavors. As a manager, I learned from my employees as well as the franchisees with whom I had a good rapport. A lot of effort is put into maintaining a cordial climate to prevent any issues that will hamper productivity.
