Repetitive tasks, lots of cleaning, lots of face to face interactions with customers. Good job for those who like people and can keep a professional happy face on. Nice %40 discount, but all health benefits pulled out from us since Covid hit. Super friendly and kind manager/owner. By far one of the top two managers Iike the most.
%40 food discount, you can get the discount somewhat when you come on your off days too.
Super fast pace, no 15 minute breaks just 30 minute unpaid lunch, sometimes told to leave early if not enough work.
Rude management, careless workers, too much gossip They do not train staff to be professional enough. Managers do not listen to staff issues. People get stressed and always call in sick. Employ people from different backgrounds.
Disorganized management and nepotism

I used to work at one branch in North Regina. This place is filled with a certain group of Asians, they employ only people from their country, have interviews with them and answer the questions for them. Next thing, they are hired. The supervisors yell at you if you are not from that country. They gossip and laugh at people different from them. It was really depressing to work there. They do not see the good in you. Always casting blame on you for no reason. The chores were always repeated. It’s unfortunate that my parents don’t work here so I got to do all the nasty chores. I am very glad I left. And also I am thrilled to know that all the good staff are leaving.
A typical day was me coming to work with my coworkers and seeing their smiling faces. I have learned how to do inventory/ ordering and just everything in general. The culture was mixed and everyone enjoyed working with each other. The worst was having to leave. Was meeting the people.
A&W is a great place to start gaining experience and skills. I was able to learn a lot such as being independent, handling stressful situations, time management, and more. The best part of the job is the people that you get to work with. These are the people that helped me develop my skill and bring me back up in tough times. But like every other job, it is flawed. It starts with a low salary (frankly, I didn't care at the time), no fixed schedule when full-time, hours bounces between having a lot to not enough and reduces your free time when dealing with school. The hardest part of the job is definitely working alone while dealing with orders, cleanliness, closing the store fast, prep if none, making safe and good food, and meeting the service time. This is something I learned to be good at over time but can never have all be done without messing one. Nevertheless, I will never forget this job. I thank it for the opportunity. Mostly the experience it gave me to prepare for what is about to come in my future.
You get to meet new people and create friendship
A lot of responsibility is given to you, Repetitive work, Low salary
This job was only good for starting your first job or should I say a stepping stone for students. I used to have like 22 hours here but now the management hire too many people which really affect my schedule.
Getting less hour
This was obviously my first job in Canada. Management is fantastic and always supportive. Employees are helpful.. This is my second year of working with this company but I have no issues with anyone whether it is employee or Management. Helped me a lot in my training session and gave me many chances to come up with my ideas. Eventually I would say that overall it’s a great experience working with A & W Restaurant under Canalta food and services.
workplace environment was good, i enjoyed working there as a supervisor and being a part of such a great management team. In my 2 years of tenure with the organization has helped me enhance my customer service skills, i have learned cash management and how to run and manage a store and keep the employees encouraged about the work they do. Everyday brings something new and that is the most enjoyable part as you learn to deal with problems and how to solve them effectively.
Advance career opportunities
Working in A&W helped me gain good customer service skills, I learned a lot about running the business and understanding people. As a manager, I learned how to operate smoothly under pressure situations and keeping the employee's moral high in the busiest periods. The most enjoyable part was communicating with people which includes both the customers and the staff and making them happy as these are the two main factors for any business to be successful.
great bonus model
As a summer intern, I got to work on the client services team along with 20 other interns. The team I was placed on delegated me real work to help them with. Having to balance the work given to me could be difficult at times for at the same time, I had to stay coordinated with the other interns in order to work on our group project. However, everyone I worked with was willing to help and very friendly. The company culture is wonderful, the employees generally seem happy to be working there! I think the energy of the environment drove everyone to do their best, at least for me it did! I learned how to work and prioritze multiple tasks at a time. I also was able to improve my research and presentation skills.
Cooking up orders for the customer, Cleaning kitchen, staying on our feet and staying busy, they were good at giving you a flexible work schedule, during winter months work time was slower and less than compared to event days and summer months
50% off food
Staying on feet throughout whole shift
Made sandiwiches, cleaned and maintained areas, cooked, deep-fryed, and did orders in a timely matter.
It was a very friendly enviroment and all the employees were very friendly and assisted if need be. I had a wonderful time learning the procedures of the company and would of stayed longer if my health had allowed. I would be interested in working for the company if the oppurtunity arose again.
friendly upbeat enviroment
sometimes got hot in the kitchen
