stressful environment

No set breaks, had to eat in the back-room whenever there were no customers in-store (which was rare) and had to stop and come to the register whenever a customer came in. Tasks are repetitive but easy enough, whenever the store gets really busy it's hard to handle the hot-food area as well as the register.

Nice but pays less

Nice place to work at. At your feet throughout the shift. Pays less and no increment in pay in first year. Busy place to work at depending on the location.

Points positifs

Schedule

Points négatifs

Too many

Don’t recommend

The worst management, busy place and always understaffed. Expected to work alone through shifts with no help. The rudest customers I’ve had to deal with as one person is expected to run the whole store. No work/life balance, the worst scheduling. Work a graveyard shift then expected to work at noon. I could say a lot more, don’t work at 7-eleven.(Worked at a different location not dawson)

Points positifs

None

Points négatifs

Terrible management and customers are rude

Okay place to work

Work and life balance are somewhat not that good. The company can be demanding but benefits are okay. If you want a stable and reliable job 7-eleven is okay

Great people to work with.

Employees cared about me, and were very helpful. Need more pay for what an employee has to put up with. Too many homeless people hanging around and stealing from the store.

Stressful to work for.

A lots of pressured Up-selling , Apps Scan and for the amount of work loads you do and you only get minimum wage is not worth it. For over night shift 711 do not have premiums for night shift. Don't ever bother to apply here as for safety reasons. Lot's of rude customers to deal with.Managers they only care about the sales.

Stressful, Low wage, Unfair Management

I’ve been working as asst store manager for almost 10 years now and management decided to increase the salary of all newly promoted assistant managers resulting to the same rate as I currently have. Yeah so even if I’ve been working so hard there for almost 10 years, i have the same salary as the newbies. Very unfair! Will try to find a better job now. Very stressful now and more work for us (uber, skip, doordash orders). Can’t have a proper break. Always short of staff, high turnover. Managers expect you to do their job. I just had enough.

Points positifs

Free drinks only

Points négatifs

Too much work, unfair management

Lots of work with low pay

If you are new in retail industry, take the job but only to gain entry experience. Don't expect that the pay will be good as they don't know how to keep the talented. Just think of why this company is always hiring...At the store level, basically your day is around dealing with customers(depends on store location, certain stores have super difficult client groups), merchandising, and maintaining cleanliness in the store. Some managers don't care/ can't handle negative employee performance because they don't like to pay layoff. Consequently, if you are hard-working, you will end up doing all the things alone. No matter what kind of people you will work with, don't forget your work ethic. If you work and get paid, please be a responsible staff( however, some incapable people just come here to pass the time and get paid).Besides, some stores' locations are extremely bad. You may play a multi-role including security guard(they don't want to hire security, well..losing some products or paying a security who does nothing but just watches his phone all the time, honestly I don't know which one is better), housekeeper, merchandiser and cashier. Moreover, field consultants want to do their reports nicely. So stores need to compete to meet different targets. Whether you can learn from this work is up to the people with whom you work, you learn everything at the till, don't count on the so-called computer training a lot. If you have the luck to work with people who are diligent and willing to teach, then you are lucky as they are few.If you have a plan to start your own business, it's -

Points positifs

Free coffee, slurphee, paid break

Points négatifs

low pay, physically demanding, many daily targets and tasks to reach

Good

Salary ia not good. Work culture is good. Lots of management pressure for sales especially rewards card and food sales. All in all I would rate 2.5 stars for my work there.

Stressful and tiring job duties

They want to make the most out of every dollar. They will delegate you more and more and more … until you give upThey do not care about your mental health. When there is need of 3 employees at the store there will be 2 there and when there is need of 4 employees there will only be 3. Nobody will ever ask you for your feedback. They dont care about how you feel at work.

Points positifs

There’s nothing really

Points négatifs

A lot

Not the best or most accommodating work place

I worked there for just over a year. I ended up getting the flu just after my birthday, almost a year into working there, then ended up with strep throat after only having a few days off. I had to take a few more days off, so with a doctor's note off course, and then ended up getting more sick due to stress of feeling like I had to work no matter how sick I was. A few months later I started getting server back pain. I went to the doctor again and got a doctor's note for another week off of work to hopefully get better. When I got my paycheck the next week I was a week short. Apparently back in March I had used all of my sick days and no one had thought to tell me as no one had ever used them up like that before. In the end the company wanted me to quit so they wouldn't have to try and accommodate the doctor's recommendations for helping my back problems. I don't recommend this job to anyone.

Store 37529 maple ridge

I have been working there since last 6 months, that store is poorly managed and there is no lock on the door and have to work single person on the night shifts, which is not safe.

Great to start on, advancement and management are jokes.

Spent 3 years working for this company and I finally decided to leave a couple weeks ago. Store Leaders are always miserable and cannot leave their home life away from work. They will take their bad day out on you with no regard. I tried pushing for a higher position in the company and was always pushed to the side with the subject never being brought up again. If you're actually feeling sick EVEN while in this pandemic, forget about them actually understanding. No matter how sick you are, they expect you to show up. Then they write you up for being sick even AFTER bringing in doctor's notes. Hours are most definitely not stable unless you suck up to the Store Leader. This place also has ridiculous "daily goals" for food sales. You can try your best to push the food on people, then get questioned about why there is so much going to waste everyday. On another note; breaks are very minimal. I used to smoke and would get into trouble for going for a 3 minute smoke break twice a shift (3 times if the store wasn't busy at the time), I wouldn't exceed 15 minutes in total when it's law for 8 hours to get a full 30. That's even after making sure my partner was ok for those times. If you're looking to pay bills and get ahead, this is not the place for you. If you struggle with mental health, do not work here. You will be treated very poorly. "Team" is meaningless here. You're just a number to these people. Would not recommend working here for more than a year. Very stressful place to work at.

Points positifs

free drinks, that's it.

Points négatifs

hours are slim, management sucks and bad on mental health.

This job will ruin your health

This is the most terrible place I have ever worked in during my entire life, and the stress there can put you six feet under. The management should be taken to court. They do not appreciate the hard work their employees do and treat them like garbage. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work there. The only good thing about my experience there is my fellow workers were fun to work with.If at all possible, please look for a different place to work.

Thinking about quitting

Just joined about a month ago and I’ve had very stressful days because of this job, having to get yelled at by customers and management. I’ve had two mental breakdowns already, had to wait till I got home or I got in my car to let my tears flow. But there are still good days where pretty much everyone’s in a good mood, I like the other staffs. I don’t quite see myself working even a year in the company tho, thinking of quitting once I hit the 6 month mark. Edit: It’s been almost two months now and I’m starting to look for another job. My manager makes me question my own abilities and stresses me out beyond my limit. It makes sense how they never have enough employees working; many people join and many people leave. The unrealistic daily goals for sales also puts the whole team under so much pressure, it’s ridiculous.

Points positifs

Friendly staff

Points négatifs

Unstable hours, fast-paced and stressful

It was awful.

I worked one year to survive in Canada because I was completely new. If I had a chance, I would have worked in a warehouse as the workload is quite similar and at least you would be able to get the pay you deserve. The store leader never comes on time, if something is wrong in the store, management does not care and expects you to figure it out by yourself. Colleagues were so dominating if you complain then they would reduce your hours. Please think twice before applying here.

Points positifs

8 hours shift, extra hours

Points négatifs

No breaks, Management won't pay you overtime, minimum wage, store leader does not care about store, schedule changes very often.

You will be overwhelmed while doing this job. Management is worst. They want you to work like a manager even though if you just work as a assistant manager.Management never appreciates at all.

Points positifs

No pros at all

Points négatifs

Stressful job
